Born and raised in New York City, Vera Wang is an American fashion designer of Chinese descent. She trained as a figure skater before entering the fashion industry. After graduating from Sarah Lawrence College, she became the youngest editor for Vogue magazine before leaving to work at Ralph Lauren in 1987.

She left two years later to form her own brand which is particularly well known for her wedding dresses. She launched her first fragrance in 2002.
